Colour Product Labels

Having your own colour label printer allows you to produce your own product labels in-house, rather than buying in expensive printed labels.  This means there are no lead times, no rush charges, no setup/tooling fees, and no minimum order quantities.  Just print what you want when you need it.

When selecting a colour printer it is important to know roughly how many labels you are likely to be printing.  If you're going to be printing a lot of labels you have to be careful not to go for the cheapest printer, thinking you're saving money, as you will get stung on the label costs!

The cheaper printers are more expensive to run (ie. the "per printed label cost" is higher), while the more expensive printers have cheaper per printed label costs.  Therefore, it is important to work out the number of labels you will be printing and the per label cost. You can then work out which printer offers the best value.

For example, if you're only printing a few thousand labels a year then the label cost will not have a big impact on your total spend, and so you would be better off with a cheaper printer. On the other hand, if you are printing 1000's of labels a week (or even day) it will be much cheaper to purchase something like the VP700, which is expensive to purchase but has much cheaper per label costs.

You also need to take into account other factors, such as the type of ink and labels and their various resistances to UV light, water, solvents etc.  We therefore recommend that you always ask for samples, and test them in the type of environment your product is likely to be found, before choosing a printer.

Colour label printers are a very niche product, and as such we recommend that you speak to us before purchasing to make sure you select the best printer for your needs. We can also provide samples for you to test with your product, and give you estimates on how much each finished label will cost to print.
