These are the most popular label makers and are suitable for home or office use. These types of printers are suitable for labelling clean, flat, smooth surfaces. If you want to label curved or rough surfaces or are in a more dirty environment then consider the industrial label machines - especially for cable marking.
The printers use thermal technology to print onto special thermal labels, so no ribbons / inks / toner or other consumables are required. Typically, the cheaper printers are limited by label width, and the more expensive printers can typically print on all available widths of label.
There are two main brands Dymo with their LabelManager range, and Brother are another popular choice with their P-Touch range. Please note that the labels are not compatible between these two brands. Dymo label printers need Dymo labels and Brother machines need Brother labels.
